Plaquenil - Brand name vs Generic DailyStrength Initially my doctor was going to start me on plaquenil because of fear the mthxx would cause a benign tumor I have to become malignant, after the doctor confirmed this wasn't an issue I did wind up not using the plaquenil, but she wanted me to take the name brand and not the generic because she said the generic causes more side affects in a lot of people and I had previously had a bad reaction.

Plaquenil for treatment. - Scleroderma - Inspire Plaquenil is not, however, one of the "powerhouse" meds that are needed when disease progression occurs. I am now on methotrexate as well as low dose prednisone & Plaquenil. If your doctor feels that your symptoms are progressing rapidly & recommends more aggressive treatment I would advise you to consider it carefully.
